Covid in Italy, Rt slightly down to 1.01, but the incidence of coronavirus in the country rises from 74 to 77 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. This is the data reported in the decision-making indicators, based on Ministry of Health and Civil Protection numbers. Since it photographs the situation in real time and refers to the period 20-26 August.
An increase that is also recorded in the data of the draft of the Iss-Ministry of Health Weekly Monitoring on the trend of the epidemic (Iss flow), in which a different period is taken into account, i.e. from 16 to 22 August: in this period of reference, the incidence is increasing from 69 to 71 per 100 thousand inhabitants.

The Rt index at national level is still down, therefore, which falls compared to last week when it stood at 1.1. “In the period 5-17 August – reads the text of the draft of the monitoring – the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.01 (range 0.93-1.12), a decrease compared to the previous week, coinciding with the epidemic threshold “.
“There is also a slight decrease in the transmissibility index based on cases with hospitalization”, is reported in the monitoring. The hospital RT, according to the draft, drops to 1.04 (as of August 17) from 1.08 (as of August 10). While the weekly incidence on a national level is slightly increasing, which according to the ISS flow data referring to the period 16-22 August is at 71 per 100,000 inhabitants, against 69 per 100,000 inhabitants (in the period 6-15 August). “The incidence – it is therefore pointed out – remains above the weekly threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants which could allow the control of transmission based on containment or on the identification of cases and the tracing of their contacts”.
