In the first half of 2021, the credit market in Russia grew by 9.9%, or by 161 billion rubles, and on July 1, it amounted to a maximum of 1.78 trillion rubles. At the same time, for the entire 2020, against the background of the pandemic, this indicator practically did not change, according to the Tinkoff report, prepared on the basis of data from the Central Bank. In the second quarter of 2021, the credit card portfolio increased by 92 billion rubles – a third more than in the first.
Only 30 banks account for 99.7% of this market, and its concentration continues. At the same time, the share of Sberbank, the segment leader, decreased by 1.3 percentage points in the second quarter of 2021, to 41.1%, and the total percentage of Tinkoff, Alfa Bank and Sovcombank increased by 1.4 percentage points. .p., up to 33.1%.
Banks from the top 30 confirmed an increase in issued credit card loans. The main reason for the increase is the lifting of pandemic restrictions and the restoration of business activity, the press service of the RNKB reported. Finam analyst Igor Dodonov is confident that the growth in credit card debt is associated with a general increase in demand for loans. In addition, the Russians noted the greater convenience of such debts compared to cash loans. A number of financial institutions expect further growth in the indicator.
