The rainy weather overshadowed the time trials of the Belgian GP. The track was reached late and the last section was interrupted due to a crash on the wet track.
Belgian GP’s Saturday time trial was started with a slight delay due to rain. The track was reached about a quarter of the time late. Saturday’s third free practice was also run on a wet track.
All the stables except Williams set out for the time trial on the wheels of the rain. Williams relied on the spacer tires. The decision was worthwhile because George Russell immediately made a strong round. Soon other teams followed Williams’ choice of tires.
The fastest in the first section of the time trials was eventually McLaren Lando Norris at 1.58, 301.
