The star, whose nose was broken due to boxing and the charming smile, which made him one of the most famous stars of his time, died at the age of 88.
Belmondo’s lawyer’s office confirmed his death on Monday.
Belmondo’s career spanned over 50 years, but “Breathless” or “Breathless” is one of the brightest works of the new wave in French cinema.
Belmondo, who in the 1960s introduced a new style of purely masculine star instead of the traditional look of a handsome hero, appeared in more than 80 films and worked with a variety of French directors, including François Truffaut and Claude Lelouch.

Belmondo was born on April 9, 1933, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, west of Paris.
In October 1952, after failing twice, he joined the National Supreme Conservatoire of Dramatic Arts.
On January 17, 1959, he married the dancer Elodie Constan and they had 3 children, then they divorced in 1965, a year after he met Ursula Andres.
Belmondo’s star rose for the first time on March 16 after the release of the movie “Abou de Soufl”, directed by Jean-Luc Godard.
In the period from 1969 to 1982: he acted 4 times in films that got the highest percentage of viewers in the year in France: “Le Cervo” (1969), “Port sur la Ville” (1975), “Lanimal” (1977) and “Las Dezas” “(1982).
Between February and June 1987, he participated in Jean-Paul Sartre’s “Kin”, based on Alexandre Dumas’ play.
In 1989, Belmondo won the César Award for Best Actor for his role in “Itinerer d’Invin Gattes” (Claude Lelouch).
Belmondo had suffered a stroke on August 8, 2001, before being awarded in 2011 the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Festival for his entire career.
