In Tokyo the Piedmontese giant led the quartet, in Belgium he beat the hosts in “his” time trial
When he focuses on a target, he hardly misses it. This 2021 Filippo Ganna had set it on two major events: the Tokyo Olympics and the World Time Trial in Belgium. Both “hit”. In Japan he conquered gold on the track dragging the quartet (with him Lamon, Consonni and Milan), in Flanders he did not miss the encore world champion with an amazing test, concluding the 43.3 kilometers of the route at an average of 54, 37 kilometers per hour. An extraordinary feat: no Italian had won two World Championships in a row in time trials. To all this must be added five other victories, all time-trialed, including the first and last stages of the Giro d’Italia. In short, an amazing season, waiting for other possible challenges that in the not too distant future could be the attempt to record the hour and, perhaps, the assault on a great classic like Paris-Roubaix (this year there will be no ) who won as a junior in 2016.
