Last Friday, May 20, the accident of Germán Vargas Lleras on his bicycle was recorded in the department of Boyacá. Colonel Giovany Puentes Aguilar, commander of the Metropolitan Police, reported that the accident occurred when he lost control of the bicycle “at the moment of passing through the railroad level crossing”.
Also, Juan Carlos Fuentes, secretary of Duitama, reported that the leader of Cambio Radical was transferred to the Boyacá Clinic located in this municipality and after several medical examinations, it was decided to transfer him to a health center in Bogotá due to the seriousness of the injuries caused by the strong fall.
The wife of the leader of Cambio Radical published a photograph on her Instagram showing one of the fractures suffered by Lleras with the message:
“The “totazo” Germán Vargas Lleras was tenacious, compromised hip and femur. He will be several days out of circulation. Thanks to everyone for the messages sent and to Doctor Nossa and his team.”
Before his transfer to Bogotá from Boyacá, Carlos Alberto Posada, manager of the Boyacá Clinic, commented that Lleras had been treated with pain medication and immobilization of the affected limb to reduce damage after the accident.
“Basically two procedures were performed on him, pain management through his medications, which was controlled, and additionally, immobilization was placed through skin traction so that the fracture would be as stable as possible while it reached its destination. It is an intertrochanteric femur fracture that logically compromises his hip, but it is not that there are two fractures, it is not only one”, Posada indicated in dialogues with RCN News.
After seven days of being interned at the Santa Fe Clinic in Bogotá, Vargas Lleras himself announced that he had already been discharged, and despite this, he made it clear that he still feels a lot of pain.

One of the first to speak out about the state of health of Germán Vargas Lleras was the center candidate Sergio Fajardo, who tweeted: “A hip fracture is tremendous pain .
