With the farewell of Valtteri Bottas Mercedes will break a couple that has made Formula 1 fans talk a lot. An undoubtedly historic duo, with titles and honors that, however, went to the only main protagonist, Lewis Hamilton, and not to his faithful squire, that Finn who risks bearing the name of eternal second forever. Hamilton and Bottas, barring calendar or health defections, will close their ‘neighborly relationship’ with 100 Grands Prix. They will be the second ever in this special ranking.
Who makes fun of Bottas’ new Barrichello‘will smile to see the Brazilian couple and Michael Schumacher as the only one to have done better than the duo-Mercedes: 104 Grands Prix, spread over six seasons (the golden cycle of Ferrari plus 2005), while Hamilton and Bottas will close a five-year period in December. And they will do so with at least eight out of ten titles brought to Mercedes’ wall. Not a little.
