 Forest fire with difficult access has consumed more than 100 hectares in Til Til

This Sunday a forest fire started in the commune of Til Til. This is a different fire from the one that has affected the communes of Curacaví and Lampa for several days.

A forest fire that started this Sunday afternoon has consumed more than 100 hectares of vegetation in the Til Til commune, located in the province of Chacabuco located north of the Metropolitan region.

According to what was reported by the authorities, the flames have affected native trees, grasslands and scrublands in an area that is difficult to access by land.

The presidential delegate for the province of Chacabuco, Giordano Delpin, traveled to the operations center that was installed to fight the fire in Til Til, where he delivered a preliminary balance of what is happening in that place.

There is no risk of housing

On the occasion, the representative of the Executive indicated that “so far this Til Til fire has no houses nearby. We do not have critical infrastructure in the sector, therefore it is only a forest fire”.

In addition, he explained that it is a fire “difficult to access”, so “it can only be addressed with air resources”.

In that sense, he explained that Helicopters and tanker planes have been arranged to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from advancing.

“The fire also has a characteristic that goes up and upwards is an area of ​​rock, therefore that makes us positively assess the situation that may come from now on with which means the fire here in Til Til”, Delpin remarked.

Curacaví-Lampa Fire

The delegate specified that it is a different fire from the one that has affected the communes of Curacaví and Lampa in the province of Melipilla for a few days, where they have been affected more than 7,600 hectares.

Regarding the latter, he indicated that 70% is already controlled thanks to the work of 8 helicopters and tanker planes as a complement to the deployment of 300 people including brigade members, Conaf personnel, Onemi, Carabineros and personnel from the municipalities.
