In an interview conducted by the journalists of The Independent, the dad of the Game of Thrones universe explained; that while he wanted both series to be a triumphant success, deep down he wanted House of the Dragon to do better than its competitor, > probably out of a competitive spirit.
If they win six Emmys, which I hope they will they will, I want us to win seven.
George R.R. Martin wonders
In the rest of this interview, George R.R. Martin also wondered; on the content of the Lord of the Rings series. The author admitted to finding the concept of this production slightly hazy, especially at the time. because of the agreement made between Amazon and Tolkien. For him, the fact that the rights to the Lord of the Rings bookshave not been bought by the platform throws a wind of confusion on the project, although it intrigues him not to know what Amazon has in mind for this series.
It’s a weird deal, Amazon boughté Tolkien’s rights, but not those of his novels. They therefore do not have the rights of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit or The Silmarillion (…) but they have those of the Appendices. I imagine they’re going to build a Second Age mythology out of it. There is a lot of material, it will be interesting to see what they do with it.
As a reminder, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will transport us seven thousand years before the events of the main series and the Hobbit,  ;and trace the creation of the Rings of Power. For its part, the Game of Thrones prequel, the House of the Dragon series, will tell the period that led to ; House Targaryen at; his downfall.
