There is an ancient commonplace in football that says: “The best coach is the one who does no damage”. The football of the Third Millennium, however, seems to have opened the wardrobes and let out the musty smell of clichés. To prove it is also our Serie A, which has managed to translate its stars from the field to the bench. Precisely for this reason it is no coincidence that Lazio, Rome and Naples are at the top of the standings with full points after two days as never before. And if the re-polished talents of Immobile, Pellegrini or Insigne steal the Sunday showcase (rightly), the daily spotlight is all of the three coaches. Maurizio Sarri, José Mourinho and Luciano Spalletti – in addition to a technical-tactical imprint – managed in a short time to give a soul to their teams, quickly becoming real spearheads of their respective fans. In short, that Center-South that last season had been ousted from the glory and earnings of the Champions League – all ended up in that northern Italy represented by Inter, Milan, Atalanta and Juventus – is now aiming high. For the rescue, therefore, something special was needed. What Mourinho, Sarri and Spalletti could bring, with the first two able to boast the highest average career points in the current Serie A (2.21 and 2.04), with the third (1.72) overtaking only by Allegri (2.03) and Inzaghi (1.82). Of course, the numbers are not enough to ensure results, but the 20 goals in two games brought as a dowry by the new-old trimurti of Italian football is also a guarantee of entertainment. An advice? Stay tuned. You will have fun.
