A character of the saga The Lord of The Rings posed a real question as to the intended series by Amazon Prime Video. The title is it really suitable ?

This is part of the major projects of the coming years. Amazon Prime Video is going to propose a series suited in the universe of the Lord of the Rings (Lord of the Rings) by J. R. R. Tolkien. A program teasé at regular intervals on the social networks and that looks very promising in light of the information already available. Better yet, a sign of the confidence of the streaming platform, for this project, a season 2 has already been commissioned. And this, while the first few episodes should not be released before 2021. But, Elijah Wood, the actor who became famous for his incarnation of the character of Frodo in the original trilogy, Peter Jackson just raised an interesting point.
Lord of the Rings in the face of the chronology
As we know, this new series is scheduled to take place long before the adventures of Frodo, more precisely, in what Tolkien described as the Second Age. An era that begins with the foundation of the Grey Havens and ends, over 3000 years after, by the fall of Sauron, in the face of the last Alliance of Elves and Men. This story is simply alluded to in the main book is detailed more in the Simarillion.
But above all, according to the time of the Second Age which is chosen by Amazon (a very long time so), the title “Lord of the Rings” may simply not be suitable… since there will be no rings. Indeed, it is around 1500 that Celebrimbor is abused by Sauron and creates the different rings of power that will be then given to the Elves, Dwarves and Men. A problem noticed by Elijah Wood, in an interview to LRM.
They call the show ” The Lord of The Rings “, but I think it is somewhat misleading. From what I understand, the plot on which they work exists chronologically before the story of the Lord of the Rings in Middle-Earth. It’s more like the era Silmarillion. At the risk of pretending to be a nerd, this is the Second Age of Middle-Earth.
Note that Elijah Wood has also hinted that he might appear in a cameo for the series on Amazon…
