To our great regret, the series Luther, broadcast by the BBC (and Channel+ and Netflix in France) came to an end on January 4, 2019. The end of a saga that started in 20120, who has offered the actor Idris Elba, one of its roles iconic on the small screen (with Stringer Bell in The Wire). If officially the end of history has not been announced, it should be recognized that the production has been rather chaotic over the years, with long periods of pause. Both Idris Elba as the creator of the series Neil Cross, were very busy these past few years. But, it is now a film that could show up to put an end to the history of Luther.
Luther, a feature-length film ” very close “
Interviewed by Deadline, the actor has admitted that there were more projects at the present time to develop a sixth season to the series Luther. But, it has, again, expressed his interest for the development of the character of Luther on the big screen, in the framework of a film. Better yet this project would now be “very close” to fruition. Neil Cross has also already stated his desire to close the saga with a film, to deliver a farewell-deserved to the character. A desire strengthened by the end of the series that leaves a lot of questions without answers.
Remember, in this BBC series, Idris Elba embodies John Luther, a police officer of the criminal section of London, which handles cases regularly involving serial killers. But his methods regularly pose a problem. It will build up a relationship with a killer Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson) and the two are going to investigate together, combining their respective skills. The series has a tone very dark, very engaging, widely hailed by critics and audiences.
