Venezuela’s dictator Nicolás Maduro announced on Thursday that his son, Congressman Nicolás Maduro Guerra, will be part of the country’s regime’s delegation to Mexico for negotiations with the opposition.
“Nicolás Ernesto is part of the dialogue commission that is going to Mexico, led by Dr. Jorge Rodríguez. They are going to Mexico to dialogue with the far-right opposition governed from the United States,” the dictator declared in an speech broadcast by state television station VTV.
On Wednesday, former Venezuelan presidential candidate and opposition leader Henrique Capriles also confirmed the participation of his political group in the dialogue. Despite having shown public differences with the leadership of his party, First Justice, Capriles confirmed that the opposition delegation will include the party’s secretary general, Tomás Guanipa. “The objective is that it be, like any process, inclusive for the different sectors and that it generates results. We want it not to be just another failure, but for that it is necessary to be efficient”, commented Capriles.
