Changes in the Mepco, prevention plans and rest areas, in addition to complementary insurance, are part of the points of the agreement reached by the Government with the carriers that are not mobilized.
Let us remember that last Monday different unions of carriers met with the Finance Minister, Mario Marcel, to hear about the proposal of the Government to their demands.

According to the minutes drawn up from the meeting, the main points were fuel prices and transport rates, road safety and labor informality.
Regarding fuels, it was proposed that Mepco continue its validity by resetting the limit established by law, with a new threshold of US$ 1,500 million, through the 2023 Budget Bill.
Likewise, the Government will send a bill to create a mechanism that will stabilize the price of diesel for a period of 90 days.
In addition, the parameters of the Transport Cost Index (ICT) will be updated so that this instrument can better represent the variations of the components that affect the fluctuation of costs in the transport sector.
Also, the validity of the benefit of partial refund of the specific tax will be extended for at least one year.
The Government promised prevention plans in the Northern Macrozone for carriers
Regarding security, the Government promised to develop prevention and route control plans for part of the Carabineros in the Macro Zone North. In parallel, safe rest areas will be enabled on the routes.
On the other hand, Complementary insurance will be evaluatedof a public nature in consideration of the increase in the costs of insurance and deductibles.
Meanwhile, a legislative agenda will be studied that allows an effective prosecution of those crimes that affect the productive activity of cargo transportation.
Finally, a work instance will be created with the Internal Revenue Service to reduce informality and avoid bad practices. Measures will be sought that allow better and greater control throughout the operation period, from the beginning of activities, control plans for illegal activities, the transport of merchandise irregularly or money laundering.
