Last August KTM’s intention to bring the test driver into question again emerged Dani Pedrosa in a race weekend, as happened at the Styrian Grand Prix. The Austrian one was a bittersweet interlude for the three-time world champion rider, able to finish in tenth position (second KTM on the track), but the protagonist of an accident in which he risked not a little, given the dynamics of the crash that involved also Lorenzo Savadori. After initially requesting the wild card for Pedrosa for the next race of Misano on 19 September, KTM withdrew the application and therefore will face the Italian weekend without test drivers in the race.
“We have withdrawn the wild card option for Misano“, He explained to the Germans of Speedweek team race manager Mike Leitner, adding: “We still have some material to test and with Dani we will concentrate on the test sessions“. At the same time, the current test line-up was also confirmed for 2022, consisting of almost 36 year old Dani Pedrosa and 38 year old Mika Kallio.
In Misano wild card for Michele Pirro (Ducati) and Stefan Bradl (Honda).
