Founded in 1962, The Rolling Stones is one of the most famous rock ensembles in the world.
Drummer Charlie Watts is leaving the Rolling Stones tour line-up. A drummer spokesman said on Wednesday Watts was “likely” to miss out on the stadium tour starting in September. Underlying health reasons: Watts has undergone some medical surgery for which the cause has not been made public, and the doctor has urged the drummer earlier this week to focus on recovery.
“I’m doing my best to be in perfect shape,” Watts says in a press release quoted by several news outlets. Watts also chuckles in the release, noting that for once his timing as a drummer is a bit wrong. Watts turned 80 in June.
In Founded in 1962, The Rolling Stones is one of the world’s best-known rock bands and drummer Watts is one of the band’s founding members. He is considered a key piece of the band’s success as a guitarist Keith Richardsin and the singer Mick Jaggerin alongside. Jagger is 78 years old and Richards is a year younger than him.
