Some voices of the ruling party, such as Juan Ignacio Latorre (RD) and Natalia Piergentili (PPD), opened up to the possibility that a mixed body draft the new Constitution. For his part, Deputy Diego Ibáñez (CS) says that the result of the plebiscite of October 25, 2020, where the citizens opted for a 100% elected Convention, must be respected.
Voices of the ruling party opened up to the possibility of having a mixed constitutional bodyto advance in the dialogue with the opposition.
It should be remembered that the parties have already defined the 12 initial bases of the process. In addition, they announced that a joint body made up of 14 jurists will be in charge of enforcing these margins.
However, the agreement that remains to be unlocked is the composition of the entity that will draft the new Magna Carta. The big difference is whether it should be made up of citizens 100% elected by the citizens or whether it can give way to a mixed body.

On the other hand, he expressed that “this week is a fatal deadline where we have we have to have the design assembled to dedicate ourselves to the detail and the entry of the constitutional reform during the next week”.
Finally, the deputy and general secretary of National Renovation (RN), Diego Schalper, indicated that they are happy “to see that some sectors of the ruling party, which had been reluctant to advance on certain points, are now opening up”.
“We see it as a good sign and anything that contributes to reaching a meeting point that makes it possible to make a constituent process viable, but also conclusive, seems to us to be good news for Chile”, he concluded.
