Authorities of the El Crisol school, indicated that it would be the fifth robbery in less than two months that affects the establishment. This time they took a 60-inch television that was used to project educational material.
In recent weeks, the El Crisol School, in the Ovalle commune, Coquimbo region, has been involved in a string of robberies. Likewise, the value of the stolen items has increased, as well as the concern of the authorities of the educational establishment.
This is a school located provisionally< /strong> in front of the Ariztía Oriente bus terminal, while the construction of its permanent headquarters in Los Leíces is completed.
The facility has suffered five robberies in less than two months, which is why the authorities are demanding increased security at the premises and in the area. This, taking into account that the headquarters they currently occupy is located about 300 meters from the Third Ovalle Police Station.

Dynamics of the robbery that affected the school
According to information provided by the director of the school, Carolina Huerta Castro, to El Ovallino, “In the last two months, antisocials have entered the school several times“.
“At first they had taken minor things, such as supplies school supplies, educational supplies or children’s clothing, because they had only entered the classrooms”, Huerta said.
However, he pointed out that in the last robbery – suffered this Friday – the subjects made a hole in one of the walls of the CRA Library (Learning Resource Center), from where they stole more loot.
“This time they entered through the window, they broke the furniture because they had already robbed us on another occasion, we were trying to put better security”, the director explained.
He also indicated that “we had put some sticks in the window to prevent access, and we hit furniture, but they still broke the furniture with a knife and went out the door, because from inside they opened the door. door without difficulty. It was there when they took a 60-inch television used to project educational material to the children.”
Regarding the escape of the criminals, Huerta commented that they possibly left from the back, to the side from El Molino street. “It’s that in that part we have a fairly low perimeter closure and that could have made it easier for them to get out there,” said the director.
They filed a complaint with the PDI
After this latest robbery, Huerta indicated that on this occasion They filed the complaint with the PDI. Unlike the previous ones, which were only presented to the Carabineros.
In their escape, the criminals left a backpack that was confiscated by the detectives, which allowed them to obtain some of the subjects’ belongings.
“The PDI searched the backpack and took it as evidence. We did not report the first robbery because they had taken things of very little value“, explained the director.
However, he pointed out that “the second, third and fourth robberies we reported to the Carabineros, because we also want them to give us a round, especially at night, as a deterrent against criminals. We reported this last crime to the PDI, because what they stole is more expensive, and it is to see if we have better results, because in the end it was material that we use with the children”, he lamented.
On the other hand, Huerta highlighted that the PDI officials made a tour of the sector looking for records from the surveillance cameras of commercial premises and private residences, which could give them clues as to the identity of the subjects.
It should be mentioned that, while the school was at its usual headquarters in Los Leíces, it was also the target of crime in the area. In this sector, criminals entered the premises to steal, above all, food and technological equipment to reduce them among the residents of the area.
