In the last weeks Valentino Rossi is back on the crest of the wave not for the results on the track, but for his choice of stop at the end of the season and – yesterday’s news – for the next paternity of a child. In the last race of the Red Bull Ring, held in mixed conditions, the ‘Doctor’ was in third position with two laps to go, but the riders’ comeback with wet tires relegated him eighth to the finish line. This placement, not exciting, however, thrilled the many fans of ’46’ present in the stands of the Spielberg track, dressed in the ordinance fluorescent yellow, complete with a thank you flag displayed by the organizers on a helicopter that flew over the circuit.
In short, even in these last races of his long career, Rossi is a backbone of MotoGP and there are many fans and enthusiasts who will crowd the racetracks to say – sportingly speaking – goodbye to the champion from Tavullia. He also joined the chorus of appreciation for the Yamaha rider Paolo Simoncelli, from the columns of his blog: “Valentino Rossi’s farewell to the world championship is there end of an era. Like Michael Schumacher, like Armando Maradona, is one that moves the masses, has made millions of people passionate about motorcycling, has made it known in the world. Go abroad and for them Italy is pizza, spaghetti and Valentino Rossi. Even if for me Valentino is the South Africa race of ’04, who was there knows. Let’s not get too sad, he has had a lot from this sport, he has given everything… but this is the cycle of life. Time is running out, but what for everyone else is a fleeting moment he was able to make it eternal by writing history “.
