Sergio Perez was the great ‘victim’ of this first Sprint Qualifying in F1 history. While his team-mate Max Verstappen went on to triumph in the 17-lap mini-race held on the Silverstone track, the Mexican was forced to retire in the last laps, after spinning in the seventh lap. A mistake that Perez made all by himself, while he was in seventh position, after losing two places at the start. A disaster across the board, which risks leaving Verstappen dangerously ‘uncovered’ in the perspective of tomorrow’s race in the ‘two against one’ attack of the Mercedes.

At the end of the day, Perez was the first to notice the bad pass he had made and wanted to apologize to the team, hoping to be able to at least partially climb the slope tomorrow in the race. “I had a bad start and trying to recover positions, managing the pace and pushing the accelerator, I simply lost it out of the corner “ the Guadalajara native honestly admitted. “I quickly became a passenger. This means that I lost my car and did a lot of damage to my race “ the Mexican driver added, disappointed. In the final laps it was the team that stopped him in order to work on the car for tomorrow’s race.
