Formula 1 seems to have finally found the venue for the 21st Grand Prix of its season. The stage of 21 November, which was first assigned to Australia and then made ‘to be defined’ after the decision to cancel the Melbourne stage from the calendar, should in fact be reassigned to Qatar. As reported by the authoritative site Autosport.com in fact, the country of the Persian Gulf would be one step away from defining its entry into the Circus 2021 program. The track would be that of Losail, which has been used in the World Championship since 2004. The track this year was the site of the first two races of the season for two wheels, hosting a back to back over seven days.
In F1, on the other hand, the track would host only one race, placing itself between the stages of Sao Paulo (if this is confirmed) and the other novelty of this season, represented by Saudi Arabia. The circuit boasts a grade 1 FIA license and could therefore organize the event without problems. The circuit is usually used at night by MotoGP and the same could also happen for the Circus, replicating what we saw at the beginning of the season in Bahrain. Thanks to this long-awaited entry, the World Cup calendar would once again be well established 22 GP. To reach the ‘magical’ quota of 23 races, established at the beginning of the season by Stefano Domenicali, it will still be necessary to find a ‘replacement’ at the Suzuka race, whose cancellation was made official a few days ago.
However, some doubts remain about the feasibility of the three races on the American continent: United States, Mexico and Brazil. For the latter two, the problem is linked to the presence of the country on the UK red list. This would result in a mandatory 10-day quarantine for anyone based in the country across the Channel. For the Austin race, however, concerns are related to the growth of infections in the county where the circuit is located.
