“Refereeing is in mourning”. Thus, the French Elite Soccer Referees Union mourned the sudden death of judge Johan Hamelat the age of 42 as a result of a stroke occurred during the afternoon of this Tuesday.

Hamel was part of the refereeing body that recently directed the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Celtic. While for the French tournament he led last Sunday as a VAR referee in the PSG-Auxerre match.
