Sophie Brahe was born on 22 September 1556 in Knutstorp Castle, in Denmark, full Renaissance. A period that for women, compared to their emancipation, is the same as the previous one. There in fact, a woman is relegated to the traditional roles of wife, mother, nun or servant and it is unthinkable that she can only aspire to something different. Some historians even claim that the condition of women worsened compared to the medieval period, losing if possible, power and freedom.

This statement is only partially valid and distinctions must be made starting from the class of belonging of women: in fact, the Renaissance is a period in which the cultural salons, in Italy as well as in Europe, are managed by patricians, duchesses, governors and queens. The discriminating factor of poverty therefore resists: the breach in the dike of knowledge is only granted to women of high castes.
