The exterior door through which the shooter entered Robb Elementary School to kill 18 students and two teachers had actually been closed by a teacher, but not properly.
This was revealed on Tuesday by the local police, denying what the investigators had initially said, by assuring that the teacher had left the door open before Salvador Ramos, 18, entered the school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24.

That teacher, who has not been identified, is now known to have opened the door and held it open with a rock, but removed the rock and closed the door when she realized there was a shooter on campus, b>according to Travis Considine, director of communications for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

However, Considine said, the door did not close properly. Investigators confirmed the detail through additional video footage reviewed in recent days.
Considine said the teacher opened the door first , and then she ran inside to grab her phone and calling 911 when Ramos crashed his truck.
“He came back with the phone in his hand, heard someone yell, ‘He’s got a gun!’ She saw him jump over the fence and she saw he had a gun, so she ran inside” and removed the rock when she did that, Considine said.

And went on to say: “We verified that she closed the door. The door didn’t lock. We know a lot and now investigators are looking into why it wasn’t blocked.”
San Antonio attorney Don Flanery told the San Antonio Express-NewIt is that the Robb Elementary School employee, whom he did not name, closed the door after realizing a gunman was on the loose.
< b>“She saw the wreckage,” Flanary told the newspaper. “She ran inside to get her phone to report the accident. He came back while on the phone with 911. The funeral home men yelled, ‘He’s got a gun!’ She saw him jump the fence and he had a gun, so she ran inside,” she added. p>
“He kicked the stone when he went back in. She remembers closing the door while telling 911 that he was shooting. She thought the door would close because that door is always supposed to be closed.”
Flanary told the newspaper that the employee had initially left the door open to bring food from a car to the classroom.
