In a statement to which EFE had access this Tuesday, signed jointly by Shakira and Gerard Piqué, it is indicated: “We have signed an agreement that guarantees the well-being of our children and that will be ratified in court, as part of a merely formal procedure.”
“Our sole objective is to provide (children) the greatest security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected,” the note asks.
“We appreciate the interest shown and we hope that children can continue with their lives with the necessary privacy, in a safe and quiet environment”, ends the statement, signed by the Colombian singer and the former soccer player and businessman.
As EFE has learned from sources close to the singer, Shakira and her legal team are “satisfied” to have reached an agreement with Piqué on this issue of children and their residence.
WHY MIAMI?
The agreement has therefore given priority to the “well-being of the children” and to the fact that the city of Miami can also facilitate the artistic career of the singer, the same sources have indicated.
The artist has had a residence in Miami for years and it is where her maternal family has also resided in recent years.
The aforementioned sources from Shakira’s environment have specified that the children will move to Miami with their mother next year from Barcelona, the city in which they were born, where they have lived for the last eight years and are in school, past Christmas.
This agreement has been reached after months of negotiations between the legal teams of Shakira and Piqué after their separation, to announced this spring, and that the last meeting between the two parties lasted almost twelve hours.
