The shortage of microchips and semiconductors continues to affect the automotive world. Also Stellantis has to deal with the consequences of this crisis: the company born from the merger between the FCA and PSA groups has been forced to extend the production stoppage times in many European factories. Experts announced that the entire automotive industry it will hardly get rid of of this problem in a short time: at least for the whole of next year the consequences of this crisis should affect the operations of the companies working in the sector.
As reported by Autonews, a spokesperson for Stellantis allegedly stated that the French PSA plant in Rennes, as well as the Italian Fiat plant in Atessa dedicated to commercial vehicles, will not be operational until the end of the week. A negative news especially for the transalpine plant, in which a halt to the production of Peugeot and Citroen mid-size cars was ordered last week. The same fate had happened in the days preceding the assembly sites of Sochaux, which builds compact PSA models, and Eisenach, which instead manufactures Opel crossovers: the latter two too. will suffer disruptions to production this week, but only for a few days.
