The Oral Criminal Trial Court of Antofagasta, sentenced this Saturday three men of foreign nationality for the homicide of the young truck driver Byron Castillo.
Specifically, the justice determined the sentences of 17 years and 183 days in jail for the crime of qualified homicide , committed with treachery, for two of the three involved in the crime of the young carrier.
In addition, the court sentenced the third defendant – minor – to the “mixed sentence of 7 years of hospitalization in a semi-closed regime”.

The facts: death of the young truck driver Byron Castillo
It should be remembered that the incident occurred on February 10 of this year, around 11:00 a.m., on the route that connects Mejillones with Antofagasta.
After an altercation between drivers, at a level crossing On a railway line, the three defendants approached the victim.
In this context, taking advantage of the fact that Byron Castillo was alone, they attacked him and threw him from the structure, dying on the spot.
According to the autopsy report, the victim died from head trauma, thorax, abdomen, and upper and lower extremities compatible with the fall from a height.
The investigation of the case was conducted by the Chief Prosecutor, Cristian Aguilar Aranela, with the collaboration of Sip personnel from the 2nd Police Station of Antofagasta and Labocar from the city.
