Kyle Turris scored a shootout win because the Edmonton Oilers started with a win over Tivu, beating the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday 3-2.
Jessie Puljujarvi and Achc Hyman scored the goal in the Oilers’ control of a late lead. Edmonton got a pair of help from Connor McDavid.
Oliver Ekman-Larson and Quinn Hughes responded for the Canucks.
Edminton scored the first goal of the game with three minutes left in the opening period, Puljuzarvi showed good hands, and Darnell picked up a rebound from the nurse’s shot.

In the middle of the second, the Oilers were looking for a Kyler Yamamoto breakaway, but Demko was able to stop.
The Oilers finished the game 3-0 with three minutes left in the second frame, and Hyman scored his first Oilers into a wide-open net on a perfect feed from Leon Drystile.
Vancouver finally got the Oilers starter Mike Smith in his previous 32 shot, as Ekman-Larson had seven-and-a-half minutes left in the power-play blast.

When Hughes shot on the short side, Smith tied the game with the Canucks 2:49 on a return goal, eventually sending the game into overtime.
The Canucks continue their six-game road trip — the longest road swing to start a start in franchise history — in Philadelphia on Friday. The Oilers will be at home to deal with the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
