Robert Strider, deputy director of the US Defense Hypersonic Projects Agency, revealed plans to develop the Dark Eagle hypersonic missile during a speech at a space and missile defense conference in Alabama. Writes about it RIA News with reference to The National Interest.
Strider said that the new missile is a long-range hypersonic weapon and is expected to be in the US army in 2023. “All of our missiles are 34-inch warheads,” he said.
According to the expert, the “Dark Eagle” will create new problems for the opponents of the United States. He threatened that one battery of new missiles is enough to completely destroy the enemy. According to him, the Pentagon was prompted to develop a new missile by the successes of the Russian and Chinese military-industrial complexes in the field of hypersonic weapons.
Earlier, the general director of the KTRV Tactical Missile Corporation Boris Obnosov said that the United States could acquire hypersonic weapons after 2023. He admitted that the United States has serious developments in many areas, so Russia cannot stop.
