The US Coast Guard in San Juan reported this Friday that returned to 35 of 39 people of various nationalities who tried to arrive illegally in Puerto Rico between May 18 and 23.
As detailed by the agency in a press release, 15 Haitians, 12 Uzbeks and 8 Dominicans were returned, after being detained by the authorities near the Mona Canal, west of Puerto Rico.
The first intervention, on the 18th, occurred when Coast Guardsman Joseph Tezanos intervened a 25-foot (8-meter) long vessel, after being sighted by a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) aircraft, 11 nautical miles to the northwest from Aguadilla (northwest).
18 people were traveling on that illegal boat: 12 Uzbeks and 6 Dominicans.

Of these 18 undocumented , 4 were handed over to CBP on Wednesday, at the Ramey Base in Aguadilla, for retrying to enter Puerto Rico.
