A continental giant refused to sign the French striker when he had the possibility.
Kylian Mbappé has been playing for four years under the colors of PSG. The Bondynois prodigy has had a good run there, and we have to admit that the choice to join the capital was the right one. His personal trajectory, however, could have been different. In 2016, a major European club had the opportunity to enlist him but ultimately decided not to grow the interest he had in him.
Mbappé could have ended up in Spain
The club in question is FC Barcelona. According to the Catalan daily El Nacional, Josep Maria Bartomeu had been in contact with the family of the French star. She was eager to close the deal, but the Blaugrana cacique did not dare to take the plunge. We know the rest: Mbappé exploded during the season that followed in the jersey of AS Monaco and his market value then increased considerably. To get him signed, it was therefore necessary to beat the world transfer record. This is what PSG decided to do in the summer of 2017.
