Monday 13 September will be remembered as a black day: three boys, just teenagers, attempted suicide. Two have died and one is in very serious condition. It happened between Milan and Bollate, in the hinterland and involved two 15-year-olds and a 12-year-old. In all three cases, apparently, it would have been voluntary gestures: suicide or, in the case of the 12-year-old, attempted suicide, a term that always leaves you astonished, but even more so when it concerns kids with their whole life ahead of them. .
North of Milan, a 15-year-old boy dropped from the balcony of his home, on the twelfth floor of the building where he lived. On the case, the investigators do not yet exclude any hypothesis, from episodes of bullying and the possibility of a challenge on social media. Another 15-year-old died after throwing herself from the seventh floor of her home. About an hour later a 12-year-old girl fell from the fourth floor of a building in Milan. She is now hospitalized in desperate conditions in the intensive care unit of the Niguarda hospital, where she struggles between life and death. In this case, the very young girl would not have left any notes to explain her gesture, nor would there have been similar episodes or signs of discomfort in the past.
The words of Minister Bianchi
“The fact that there were three suicides on the first day of school is a very serious coincidence. All my affection as a father goes to the families who lost their children yesterday. I think our boys have experienced a period of great disarray ”. Thus the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi commented on the latest serious news events that occurred on the first day of the reopening of the schools.
“I hope our country can resume a life in which the meaning of life is shared in the family. We need to be close to everyone we share our life with. The school must be able to recover that sense of sociability that starts with respect for everyone and for oneself. There is a sense of life to be reconstructed over many generations. The school must be rebuilt starting from the values of life ”, he added.
