After a complaint from a dog owner, it was possible to arrest two people for illegally practicing as veterinarians in a clinic in Talagante.

The PDI arrested two people accused of illegally practicing the profession of veterinary doctors in the Metropolitan region.

These are two Venezuelan citizens who worked as health professionals in a clinic in Talagante, without having their titles validated in Chile.

As detailed by the PDI, both have been practicing their profession since 2021, accumulating more than 2,000 clinical records.

Commissioner Cristián Cepeda explained that the investigation was born in the middle of this year , after a complaint from the owner of a pet whom he urgently took to the veterinary clinic, after being attacked by other dogs.

Cepeda explained that the animal was treated and returned home. However, She did not show any improvement and had mood swings, in addition to expelling a bad odor. For this reason, he attended again with his dog, being anesthetized for a second procedure, which did not generate any improvement either.

In this way, he finally took him to a second clinic where it was discovered that the dog’s injuries were not properly treated, so she had septicemia. This causes problems to this day for the pet, which is still being treated.

The owner of the dog went to the PDI to denounce the alleged illegality in the practice of veterinary medicine, for which the Prosecutor’s Office de Talagante gave an order to investigate.

Thus, it was possible to verify with the University of Chile that only two of the four doctors at the clinic had their titles validated in the country. The other two, meanwhile, had issued prescriptions and delivered rabies vaccines without the legal authorization to do so.

For this reason, they were arrested and will be formalized in the next few hours.
