The Spanish teenager, 18, has beaten Ramos Vinolas and is the youngest ATP finalist since Nishikori in 2008. Today he faces the French veteran
Carlos Alcaraz puts his foot in the history of tennis and at the age of 18 wins the first ATP final of his career by beating compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas, seeded number 1 of the tournament, 6-2 7-6 (3) at the ATP 250 in Umag. Carlos, coached by Juan Carlos Ferrero, was baptized “Nadal’s heir” and not surprisingly: he is the youngest player to reach a final on the ATP circuit since 2008, when Kei Nishikori did it in Delray Beach.

Alcaraz showed off in February 2020 when, out of the top 400 in the world, he always beat Ramos Vinolas in Rio de Janeiro after a nearly four-hour marathon. And in Umag, the teenager who we will see in Milan in the Atp Next Gen Finals, has once again folded the expert compatriot. Alcaraz, already number 73 in the world, faces a veteran like Richard Gasquet in the final who beat Daniel Altmaier 7-6 (2) 3-6 6-3 in the semifinals after 3 hours and 11 of play. For the Frenchman it is the first final at the Bastad 2018 circuit.
