The Investigative Police called for citizens to be “calm”, since they are “working on a criminal analysis” to confront the gangs that operate in the city.

The Investigative Police (PDI) in Los Angeles reported 25 homicides in this commune in the Bío Bío region in what which is from 2022.

There are eight more crimes than those registered up to the same date the previous year, when they reached 17. The figure represents a 47% increase in this type of crime in one year.

According to the balance of the PDI, most of the homicides occurred in the middle of a public thoroughfare, with shots fired at the drivers and their companions from moving vehicles.

The work of the PDI PDI to face the rise in homicides

Faced with this complex scenario, the PDI announced that they are working on a series of initiatives that allow them to face the problem and reduce these figures.

This was acknowledged in an interview with Radio Bío Bío by the new head of the Homicide Squad of the institution in Los Angeles, the sub-prefect Juan Luis Fonseca.

“Criminal analysis work is being done. Good results are being achieved. The investigations are long-term, but we have people trained in the analysis base that we need”, assured the sub-prefect.

PDI will reinforce teams for the new year

Given the indications that criminal organizations are expanding in the city, the PDI will reinforce its teams in view of the New Year celebrations.

The above, considering the eventual clandestine release of fireworks, which has been associated with violent acts between rival drug gangs that operate the city.

“There is concern (…) but as police we are committed at a national level in this situation, therefore, society should be calm that we are working all agencies involved”, said the head of the Homicide Squad.
