US President Joe Biden will address the UN General Assembly (GA) on September 21 in New York, where the organization is headquartered. This was announced on Monday, September 13, by the TV channel CNBC with reference to the press service of the White House.
“The President will leave on Tuesday, September 21, to New York to address the UN General Assembly,” the press service said.
This will be Biden’s first speech to the UNGA since taking office. The White House promised to circulate additional details in this regard at a later date.
On September 9, the chairman of the GA session Volkan Bozkyr said that the personal presence of 83 heads of state is expected at the UN General Assembly. At the same time, 26 leaders have applied to perform on the record.

On August 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the composition of the Russian delegation to the UN General Assembly. According to the order of the head of state, the delegation will be led by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Also members of the delegation were appointed Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Vershinin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin, Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Vasily Nebenzya and Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky.
In addition, Putin instructed the Foreign Ministry to approve the composition of advisers, experts and the necessary technical personnel.
On August 4, it was reported that at the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly in September, Russia intends to point out the problems in the activities of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and also to call on the West to abandon the politicization of the work of this organization.
The 76th session of the UN General Assembly will open on 14 September. The high-level week of the UNGA session will take place from 21 to 27 September. Lavrov will deliver a speech at the General Assembly on September 25.
