Guanyu Zhou is exploring all possible ways to be at the start of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship.
The current leader of the general classification of the Formula 2 championship has awaited the decisions of Alpine, having been part of the French Academy since 2019, but not finding outlets in the official programs of the team is probing all the options available on the market.
Chances that this year are reduced due to the many two-year agreements signed in 2020.
With Alpine unable to guarantee him a place in Formula 1, Zhou is free to look for alternative seats, without constraints related to teams using competing powertrains.

At the moment the most concrete opportunities are those of Williams and Alfa Romeo, two teams that have not yet announced the 2022 line-up and that could consider the candidacy of the 22-year-old Chinese also for a very interesting commercial potential.
Zhou would arrive with a good 2021 in Formula 2 and with companies ready to support his debut in Formula 1 with significant capital.
Guanyu, however, is not interested in the role of third driver, the goal is the debut as a starter and we are working towards that. Liberty Media itself is also closely following the progress of the negotiations, which sees in Zhou the possibility of being able to use a testimonial on the front line to break through the Chinese market.
Zhou made his debut in a Formula 1 weekend at the last Austrian Grand Prix, disputing the FP1 session with Fernando Alonso’s car. The Chinese impressed the Alpine technicians well, lapping less than two tenths of a second behind Esteban Ocon with the same tire compound.
