Fencing at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics: foil, sword and saber calendar
TOKYO FENCING 2020 CALENDAR – For the first time in its history, Italy will be represented in all fencing specialties at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The minimum objective is to improve the medals won in Rio de Janeiro. There will be 24 fencing blues who will take to the platform from 24 July to 1 August, for a total of 12 races, six individual and as many in teams. Among our athletes, the names of Daniele Garozzo stand out for the men’s foil, former Olympic champion in Rio De Janero in 2016 and Erica Cipressa who will support Arianna Errigo, Alice Volpi and Martina Batini in the team test. The fencing tournaments will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, southeast of Tokyo. The novelty of the Games in Japan is the return – compared to the Rio 2016 edition – of the men’s saber and women’s foil team trials. Each tournament has four phases: preliminary, quarter, semifinal and final. But let’s see together the calendar of fencing competitions at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics:
