According to the latest results of the National Registry of Civil Status on its official website,The two candidates for the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia who are going to a second round are Gustavo Petro and Rodolfo Hernández.

In the pre-count of the National Registry, with 96.1% of the tables informed, Gustavo Petro has the advantage with 40.34% equivalent to 8,230,461 of the total votes counted. For his part, the engineer, Rodolfo Hernández, has 28.08% with 5,730,868 votes.

Petro ran for the Presidency with the Historical Pact while Hernández is representing the LIGA party (League of Anticorruption Governors).

Thus, on June 19 Colombians in national territory and those living abroad will have the opportunity to vote in the second round to find out who will be the next president of the Republic 2022 – 2026.

Continuing with the results of the Registrar’s Office, these are the figures of the other candidates who did not have a high percentage in the pre-count.

Who are the candidates

Gustavo Petro is in his duo with the candidate for the Vice Presidency, Francia Márquez, who is 40 years old and was born in Yolombó, Antioquia, and is also a lawyer, social leader and human rights defender.

In turn, Petro is an economist and specialist in the Environment and Population Development, former mayor of Bogotá and Senator of the Republic.

Now, the engineer Rodolfo Hernández, was born in Piedecuesta, Santander, he is 77 years old and was Mayor of Bucaramanga, capital of the same department where he was born. He is accompanied by the vice-presidential candidate, Marelen Castillo, a 53-year-old Colombian teacher, industrial engineer and researcher.
