Ius soli, clash between the minister Lamorgese and the leader of the Lega Salvini
Extremely tough clash between the Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, and her predecessor, the leader of the Lega Matteo Salvini, on the ius soli.
In a video interview with the director de The print, Massimo Giannini, the Lamorgese, in fact, spoke on the issue of ius soli, commenting on the words of the president of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, who in recent days had hoped for an acceleration on the approval of sporting ius soli, declaring: “It is a theme that arises and which we must remember not only when our athletes win medals “.
Lamorgese, therefore, underlined the need to help “the second generations to make them feel an integral part of society”, saying she was in favor of a law on citizenship for foreigners: “Politics will have to make its findings and I hope that a political synthesis will be reached” .
The words of the Minister of the Interior, however, did not please Matteo Salvini, who has a close circle replicated so to Lamorgese: “Instead of raving about ius soli, given that with the current law we are the European country that in recent years has granted the most citizenships ever, the Minister of the Interior should control whoever enters Italy illegally. There are tens of thousands of landings organized by smugglers, without the Interior Ministry lifting a finger ”.
