More than a week after the death of George Floyd and while America is set on fire, Meghan Markle has decided to come out of the silence. She apologized for having waited so long before speaking.
Meghan Markle is the output of the silence Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Almost ten days after the death of George Floyd, she delivered a speech to graduates of his former school, Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles, by video-conferencing. The mother of a family, 38-year-old had no other choice but to respond to the case that has shaken America. “The life of George Floyd was important and the life of Breonna Taylor was important, and the life of Philando Castile was large and the life of Tamir Rice was important“, she stated. In fact, she recalled that George Floyd was not the first African-american killed in the United States by the police.
While it has been strongly criticised for failing to react to the death of George Floyd, Meghan Markle admitted his mistake. “I didn’t know what I could say to you. I wanted to say the right thing and I was really nervous. And I realized that the only bad thing to say is to say nothing.” Even if she knows to what extent this tragedy is devastating for Los Angeles and all over the country, it wished to recall that this was not the first time that it happened. It has also been marked by the riots that erupted after the beating brutal Rodney King, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Viewers shocked by the silence of Meghan Markle and Harry
“J‘was 11 or 12 years, and these riots were also triggered by an act of racism foolish. I remember the curfew, and I remember rushing home, see ashes fall from the sky, smell the smoke and see out of the building“, she told still upset. This position should silence the people who have been many to climb up to the niche in front of the silence observed by Meghan Markle and her husband, Harry.
