What Elon Musk and Tesla are able to anticipate and make surprise decisions about the. market is well known but according to Morgan Stanley in the future the car manufacturer from Palo Alto could even focus on electric airplanes and more specifically on urban aerial mobility with battery-powered flying taxis. A move that would not be like a bolt from the blue if you consider the evolution of the brand and Elon Musk’s interests in space exploration thanks to his SpaceX.

Morgan Stanley is fully aware that Tesla has not given any signals. specify that you intend to go in this direction or at least not yet. In the dossier drawn up by the American bank in fact we read: “We must recognize that Tesla’s management has, to date, openly discouraged speculation about their involvement in eVTOL / UAM (acronyms for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft for urban air mobility). We will, however, have Tesla on our roads, underground in tunnels, on Mars. But not in the skies? Well, we’re not convinced. ” This is not an illogical conclusion. Tesla will go to Mars and therefore it seems natural that the Palo Alto carmaker could also consider an intermediate step. It would be so tempting to get an electric plane off the ground and reduce the extremely damaging effects of aviation fuel. “In our opinion (Morgan Stanley, ed), the possibility that Tesla will not offer products and services to the eVTOL / UAM market is remote ”. Recently, both Hyundai and General Motors have detailed their plans for the development of infrastructure and flying taxis. Tesla is unlikely to simply want to stand by.
