In Styria, on the Red Bull Ring track, MotoGP has revived a ‘great classic’, one of those duels that between 2006 and 2018 wrote pages of motorcycling history. The challenge between Valentino Rossi And Dani Pedrosa, earned the Spaniard tenth place at the finish line, three positions ahead of the Doctor, 13th, brought to mind the era of duels on the last overtaking between the two, when together with Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo they formed the ‘fantastic 4’ of the premier class. Pedrosa, after the unfortunate crash of ‘race-1’ and the enormous risk taken in the accident with Savadori, was able to restart on the second start, completing a splendid race.
A result, that of the Spanish KTM veteran, certainly not a foregone conclusion. In fact, the former Honda rider hadn’t raced a GP since 2018 and took part in the event as a wild card. Rossi himself, who in turn Pedrosa had applauded for his longevity, gave credit to his former opponent, praising the performance put on display in Austria. “Pedrosa was very brave – said the Doctor after the race, as reported by the Iberian website AS – made a great comeback. When he got rid of the guys in front he showed a good pace. It is not something so obvious to be able to come back and do a race like this after three years. He was faster than me “, the admission of the sample of Tavullia.
Finally Rossi also commented on the episode of the accident with Savadori, without going into too much detail: “What happened during his accident could have happened on any other circuit “, concluded the Yamaha Petronas team rider.
