Among the over 150 Italian university teachers that have signedthe appealagainst the introduction of the compulsory Green pass for access to Italian universities there is also the professor Alessandro Barbero, one of the best known Italian historians and full professor of Medieval History at the University of Eastern Piedmont.
“The appeal of university professors against the discriminatory nature of the “green pass”, to reiterate that the University is a place of inclusion and to start a serious and in-depth debate on the dangers of such a measure, avoiding any form of exclusion and penalization of students, teachers and technical-administrative staff “, reads on the teachers’ website critical of the obligation to submit the green certificate.
Professor Alessandro Barbero, on 4 September, in a Fiom-Cgil conference organized in Florence, had expressed himself thus on the government provision on the introduction of the Green pass for access to universities: “It is one thing to say ‘Gentlemen we have decided that the vaccine is mandatory because it is needed and consequently now we introduce the obligation ‘, I would have nothing to say about this. Another thing, however, is to say ‘no, there is no obligation, for heaven’s sake … you simply cannot live anymore, you can no longer take trains, you can no longer go to university. But – he underlines with irony – there is absolutely no obligation… and the Green pass is for this, not to induce people to get vaccinated by subterfuge… ‘”. And then he concludes: “I believe that Dante would have found a way to fill the circle of hypocrites until it overflowed, choosing among ours politicians of today”.
