On social media, a photomontage with CR7 appeared next to Messi with the transalpine jersey. But the author is not a member of the Qatari family that owns the club
It is a photomontage that makes entire generations of football fans dream, but still an imaginative photomontage, the one posted this afternoon on Twitter from Qatar. And if the profile is that of a character who bears the name of the royal family of Doha, then any speculation seems legitimate.

Except that the Sheikh Khalifah Bin Hamad Al Thani in question appears to be neither the brother nor the relative of the Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who controls the PSG through the sovereign fund he founded Qsi. And from the French capital, obviously, any interest in Cristiano Ronaldo is denied, who in the photomontage of the sheik wears the PSG shirt, alongside the already Parisian Messi.

The post’s Al Thani sent the network into turmoil again also because at the beginning of the month he had published a message portraying Messi in the PSG jersey, even before he signed the biennial with the Emir’s club, giving the agreement as a fact. In fact, however, it was one of the many rigged photos that had been circulating on the net for hours, with similar messages. Khalifah is a former executive of Doha’s Al Arabi club, who has no direct ties to the ruling family. And in the Qatari capital, ties with the PSG Al Thani are denied. With his 117,000 followers on Twitter and about 36,000 on Instagram, the one who calls himself an “honorary member of Al Arabi” is perhaps a respectable local influencer, but should not be confused with Khalifa Bin Hamad, brother of Emir Tamim, followed by 1.2 million followers between the two social networks. And that he only rarely posts non-institutional messages. The last one, on Twitter, dates back to 12 August 2020, to celebrate PSG qualification for the Champions semi-final. Mbappé stands out above all. For Messi’s club, Ronaldo, on the other hand, remains only a social suggestion.

The tweet had also triggered Lapo Elkann’s reaction: “CR7 is a Juventus FC player. It is not very respectful to continue to put other shirts on him as if he were a sticker. If he changes team, wherever he goes, he will have respect as a man and as an athlete and then he sees, a gentleman said, that for us football is a passion. For generations “.
