Readers will remember when the bus-cum-bar belonging to surfers on one of Salobreña’s beaches suffered an arsonist attack; now they’ve been burgled.
Surf Club 18 Knots is parked just over the bridge that links Salobreña to Motril, not far from the river mouth. The club-house restaurant is a bus that has been permanently parked for this purpose and is where surfers can buy refreshments and use as a social meeting point for surfers.
The club has not been the only establishment to be targeted by vandals as several kiosks along the main ride have also been ‘visited.’
Fortunately, the Salobreña Local Police and the Civil Guard have arrested a suspect between them, allegedly involved in the burglary carried out on the surf-club bus. They caught him shortly after having reportedly forced the doors on the bus to reach the cash register and drink several beverages from the shelves.
