Likhachev also suggested that the protracted opening ceremony of the tournament could have influenced the Russian national team. At the same time, he thanked the team for achieving a positive result.
The opening meeting of the group stage between the national teams of Russia and the United States took place earlier on Thursday, August 19. The main time of the meeting ended with a score of 4: 4, and the Russians snatched the victory in overtime.
