In the last three years three years in Valdivia there has been a significant increase in the value of a kilo of bread, between $500 and $600. From the item they assure that this is due to the rise in the price of inputs, such as flour and oil.
Between 500 and 600 pesos a kilo of bread has risen in the last 3 years in Valdivia, in the Los Ríos region. Producers affirm that the increase is due to national and international factors.
As a result of the pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine, bread producers say that the value of wheat and flour has risen by 50% and in the case of oil by nearly 80%.
Radio Bío Bío in Valdivia spoke with some consumers, who mentioned that money is not enough to buy the same products as a year ago.

The administrator of the Selecta bakery, Mauricio Baeza, indicated that in the last 2 months of 2021, the price of flour, a basic input for making bread, rose 50%.
For his part, the manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Valdivia, Walter Marcos, said that one of the products that has risen the most in price is oil.
According to the producers, today there have been no bakers’ unions or directives in Valdivia for 5 years, since it was dissolved and no one has wanted to occupy the position.
