In France, thousands of people have been evacuated and campsites evacuated because of major forest fires. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 5000 hectares were affected. This amounts to about ten thousand football fields. Some 750 firefighters have been deployed to fight the blaze in the Var region in the south of France. According to French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, everything is being done to protect the population in the area.
