Valtteri Bottas will cross the finish line of ten seasons in F1 in 2022 with Alfa Romeo and will reach at least 12, judging by the Finnish driver’s statements to the Finnish broadcaster MTV. The current Mercedes driver, in fact, said “To know what he will do for the next three and a half seasons”, words that suggest that he has signed a long contract with the team from Hinwil until 2024.
Esteban Ocon has also formalized a renewal with Alpine until 2024, a season in which the long extension signed by Charles Leclerc with Ferrari at the end of 2019 will end. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are linked respectively to Red Bull and Mercedes until 2023. The Dutch driver has announced the long renewal with the team of Milton Keynes in the early days of 2020, while Lewis Hamilton before the summer break has formalized his stay in Mercedes for the next two years after the annual valid for 2021 announced in February just in time to start the current season.
On the part of Alfa Romeo it was therefore given great confidence to Bottas, who will actually be able to build something new with three years at his disposal without the precariousness that has characterized his last seasons in Mercedes, punctuated by simple annual renewals.
